Testing Facts

  • Rapid HIV tests were approved in 2003, and are available within 10 to 30 minutes after the blood sample is taken.
  • If you think you were exposed, wait 2-3 months before being tested.It takes this long at a minimum for the virus to be detected.
  • Testing positive does not mean that you have AIDS.
